Partner with an accelerated Master of Divinity student serving in your community
A new opportunity to collaborate with up-and-coming leaders
Your church has a lot to offer leaders in training. By proposing your site as a ministry context, you can partner with a seminary student seeking to gain practical knowledge and skills.
Luther Seminary’s accelerated Master of Divinity program prepares students to be agile leaders in Christian communities, building on their gifts, talents, and ministry experience while offering the theological depth they need to live out their calling.
This generously funded program, affectionately known as “MDivX,” is a holy experiment to help the church rethink how we cultivate Christian community in a secular age. Ideal candidates already are working or studying at the intersection of the church and society. They sense a call to public, pastoral ministry and are ready to be a student and church worker full time.
Benefits for students and your community
MDivX students are highly motivated and skilled leaders-in-training, eager to serve with local congregations and prepare to go boldly where God calls them.
Matching the academic rigor that Luther Seminary is known for, students enrolled in MDivX will earn a Master of Divinity degree in 24 months by participating in year-round classes and completing concurrent part-time ministry work at congregational sites like your church.
This integrated approach offers students high-impact learning experiences through real-world application. By becoming a partner site, your congregation and an MDivX student can collaborate to enhance your ministry and enrich your community.
Partner with developing leaders
Focus on your ministry, assisted by an MDivX student.
In July 2018, we announced the largest single gift in Luther Seminary’s history—$21.4 million—to fund a five-year pilot of an accelerated Master of Divinity program. Due to the generous support of long-time Lutheran higher education champions Dean and Rosemarie Buntrock, students receive full-tuition scholarships and stipends for living expenses, books, computer software, and immersive travel experiences. They will be paid, in accordance with ELCA standards, for their practical experience working with churches like yours.
Congregations will be responsible for some costs; see Financial Guidelines for details.
Be a congregation that says yes to furthering your mission and developing leaders for the church.
